El Centro remains steadfast in its focus and commitment to the health and safety of its patients, staff, and Houston’s East End community.

Houston Methodist has partnered with El Centro to provide important COVID-19 information and resources.

Masks are required to be worn inside all El Centro health centers and vaccination areas. We will continue to look to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations to determine our safety practices.

+ Testing Information

El Centro is currently offering Coronavirus/COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic and symptomatic adults and children at its John S. Dunn Health Center. For the safety of our patients and staff, please call our call center at (713) 660-1880 ext. 2210 to make an appointment.

Testing Hours
Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

+ Safety Measures at our Health Centers

1. Masks are required to be worn inside all El Centro health centers and vaccination areas.

2. Sick patients are seen in separate areas from well patients.

3. Hand sanitizer is available at each entrance and at numerous locations throughout each El Centro facility.

4. Common areas are cleaned 4 times a day with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved disinfectants.

5. Exam rooms are fully cleaned and disinfected after each patient with EPA approved disinfectants.

6. Staff are practicing hand hygiene before and after each patient encounter.

Comprehensive Health Services

At this time, El Centro is providing telemedicine services for new and established pediatric patients and for established adult patients only. Sick patients are urged to make a telehealth visit first and let their provider determine if an in-person clinic visit is necessary. Behavioral Health Services

At this time, El Centro is providing telehealth behavioral health services for its new and established patients. Schedule an appointment with your behavioral health provider from the safety of your own home using your phone or cell phone! Oral Health Services

El Centro is currently seeing existing pediatric and adult patients for dental care and only accepting new pediatric patients. Pediatric patients are seen at our John S. Dunn Health Center at 7635 Canal Street, and adult patients are seen at our Eastwood Health Center located at 412 Telephone Road. Monoclonal Antibody Treatment

Monoclonal antibody therapy is an investigational medicine used for the treatment of COVID-19 in  non-hospitalized adults and who are at high risk for developing severe COVID-19 symptoms or the need for hospitalization. Monoclonal antibody therapy is investigational because it is still being studied. There is limited information known about the safety or effectiveness of using monoclonal antibodies to treat people with COVID-19.
