This year, El Centro launched its first ever Children’s Wellness Program (Nutrición con Corazón) to reduce the risk of pediatric diabetes made possible through a grant awarded from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ (BCBSTX) “Healthy Kids, Healthy Families” (HKHF) initiative. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ “Healthy Kids, Healthy Families” initiative, addresses childhood obesity prevention, diabetes management, nutrition, physical activity support and behavioral health services necessary to achieve health and wellness.
