Jackie Parsons, RN, CDE

“Working in community health can be very impactful at the individual, family and group level. When individuals make healthy lifestyle changes, they not only improve their own health, but they also improve the health of their family and the community at large. Helping individuals recognize that they can take control of their health, and serve as a role model for family and friends by demonstrating healthy habits is very meaningful and rewarding.  In our diabetes self-management education and prevention programs, individuals learn about health & risks, setting a goal(s), trying out strategies, learning what works or doesn’t, and problem-solving. As a diabetes educator, I feel that I am supporting both the health of the individual and making a difference in the health of the community at large.”
