On April 16, 2010, El Centro de Corazón, with co-chairs Wendy Montoya Rodriguez and City Council Member James Rodriguez and Argentina M. James, celebrated its 3rd annual "Making a Difference" luncheon at Hotel ZaZa, honoring Bank of America for its work in the community and its continued support of El Centro. In 2008, El Centro was selected as a recipient of the Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award, and received a $200,000 grant.

Dr. Marc L. Boom, Executive Vice President of The Methodist Hospital delivered the keynote address, bringing attention to the growing health care needs of uninsured Houstonians.

The 2011 luncheon, tentatively scheduled for April 8th at Hotel ZaZa, will be chaired by Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and his wife, Gwen.
